Description

Dave Robertson songwriting themes includes kissing, climate change and cult 70's novels. His thoughtful, sometimes cheeky, lyrics are personal, political, playful and powerful.

Influences range from story-teller singer/songwriters like Ani Difranco, Paul Kelly, Jason Isbell and Billy Bragg, to the atmospherics of bands such as The National.

The sonics of Dave’s band The Kiss List are diverse. The lineup is Rachel Armstrong on violin/mandolin, Rob Findlay on electric guitar and Tore Pedersen on bass. Their latest single The Green Light tells the tale of an amorous entanglement between two very different people. It is part of an EP project that began with live rhythm section takes at Hopping Mouse Studios, and subsequent production in Dave’s own studio.

Previous popular songs include Montreal from the Oil, Love & Oxygen album and Canary in the Coal Mine, which was played nationally on Double J and has received great reviews. Gigs have included many shows in Fremantle as well as Nannup, Fairbridge and Fremantle festivals, supporting The Basics in Tasmania and performing the song Rogue State to thousands at a Walk Against Warming rally.

Dilip Parekh is an Indian Irishman from Fremantle who is a singer/songwriter that has established himself as one of Western Australia’s finest songwriters.

Dilip is a great supporter of Perth Folk and Roots Club and is also widely known as the front man for high energy band - Dilip n the Davs.

With six recording releases since their formation in 2008, Dilip n the Davs are a Freo favourite playing reggae/ska/funk/grooves that get people moving.

Their album titled “Together”, feature guests Nicky Bomba and House of Shem’s Teo Perkins, was well received and had airplay nationally and internationally. His solo album ‘Better Out Than In’ showcases his more reflective songs in solo mode including musical interpretations of poems by WB Yeats and Herbert Hoover, as well as his own contemporary eclecticfolk material.

Dilip is also playing in Charlie Carters, a band featuring a variety of great musicians.
